There’s something undeniably magical about a springtime Lake Sherwood Engagement Session — especially when cherry blossoms are in bloom, the lake is glowing in golden light, and a couple is completely unapologetically themselves. Leah and Eric’s engagement session at Lake Sherwood was the perfect combination of romance, adventure, and spontaneity, creating the kind of images that feel timeless and deeply personal. From dancing beneath blooming cherry blossom trees to cliff jumping into the lake at sunset, every moment of this session reflected their joyful connection and adventurous spirit!

Cherry Blossoms & Spring Romance at Lake Sherwood

We began Leah and Eric’s engagement session tucked inside a beautiful grove of blooming cherry blossom trees. The soft pink petals created the dreamiest backdrop and instantly transformed the space into something that felt almost cinematic.

Leah wore a flowing pink dress that complemented the blossoms perfectly, adding an elegant and romantic touch to the entire session. Leah and Eric laughed, danced, and soaked in the moment together. Their chemistry was effortless — playful, connected, and full of warmth.

The cherry blossoms added such a soft, romantic energy to this portion of their Lake Sherwood engagement photos, making it feel like something out of a springtime fairytale.

Lakeside Views & Golden Hour Portraits

After wandering through the blossoms, we made our way to one of the most breathtaking overlooks at Lake Sherwood. Perched high above the water on a massive boulder, Leah and Eric took in panoramic lake views while the golden California light reflected across the water below.

The scenery at Lake Sherwood is one of the reasons it’s such an incredible location for engagement photography. Between the rolling hills, sparkling water, and hidden natural textures throughout the area, every corner feels cinematic and intimate at the same time.

Leah and Eric looked completely at home together sitting atop the rocks, wrapped up in each other while the sun slowly dipped lower over the lake.

A Boat Ride to a Hidden Island

One of the most unique parts of this Lake Sherwood engagement session came when a friend of Leah and Eric generously let us use their boat. Instead of ending the session on shore, we headed out onto the water toward a small island tucked in the middle of the lake.

The peaceful boat ride added such an adventurous and personal element to the session. As the sun lowered over the water, the entire lake glowed with soft evening light, creating the perfect atmosphere for candid moments and unforgettable portraits.

Once we reached the island, the adventure truly began.

Cliff Jumping Into the Lake

Leah and Eric climbed to the top of a giant boulder overlooking the water, laughing the entire way up. Without hesitation, they jumped straight into the lake together — completely spontaneous, wildly fun, and perfectly representative of who they are as a couple.

Those moments ended up being some of my favorites from the entire engagement session. The joy, trust, and freedom they shared made every image feel authentic and alive.

Not every couple ends their engagement session by jumping into a lake, but for Leah and Eric, it couldn’t have been more fitting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should we wear for our Lake Sherwood engagement session?

Choose outfits that make you feel like yourselves. Soft neutrals and pastels sit well against the greens and blues of Lake Sherwood. Avoid anything with a loud pattern, since it tends to pull the eye away from the two of you. Bring layers, and wear shoes you’re happy walking in over rocks and uneven ground near the water.

How long does an engagement session typically last?

Most sessions run between one and two hours. That’s enough time to move through a few different spots around the lake and get a good mix of posed portraits and candid moments without anyone feeling worn out. If you’re planning something more active, like Leah and Eric’s session that included climbing and a swim, plan closer to two hours.
