This is the “Into the Light” editorial, shot at River Bottoms Ranch in Midway, Utah, and featured by Wedding Sparrow. The ranch sits in a wide mountain valley about twenty minutes from Park City, and it’s one of those places that immediately puts everyone at ease. A white modern barn, open green fields, horses grazing behind wooden fences. We had golden-hour light, a couple who were clearly happy to be there, and a creative team that thought through every last detail.

A Romantic Wedding at River Bottoms Ranch
If you love a ranch setting closer to home, see Chelsea and Peter’s Rancho San Antonio wedding in Southern California. River Bottoms Ranch is the kind of venue that does a lot of the heavy lifting for you. The white gambrel barn floods with natural light all morning, the fields run right up to the mountain line, and the horses wander up to the fence on their own timeline. That sort of setting puts couples at ease without anyone having to try. We spent part of the afternoon out by the wooden fences with the horses nearby, and it made for some of my favourite frames of the whole day.
Elegant Design and Timeless Details
Rachael Ellen Events led the creative direction here, and the result was an intimate shoot with a strong vintage thread running through it. The bride wore an off-the-shoulder gown from Eisen Stein Bridal that was genuinely stunning, and KC Witkamp handled makeup with a light, classic touch. Ink & Press Co. designed the invitation suite: delicate vintage florals, gold wax seals, and the kind of paper details that photograph beautifully on a flat lay.
Wild Event Studio supplied the flatware, and Rachael Ellen Events built loose, wild floral arrangements around it. Nothing felt over-styled. The whole table had that easy warmth that comes when you stop trying to make everything perfectly symmetrical. Then there was the cake from Maile Cake Design, three tiers with oversized sugar flowers in white and gold. It looked like something from a fashion shoot, not a bakery.
Capturing Timeless Moments with Lisa Leanne Photography
I shoot under the name Lisa Leanne Photography, formerly Wisteria Photography. My work is rooted in natural light and real moments between couples. I don’t over-direct. I’d rather follow what’s already there than engineer something that looks posed. This editorial is a good example of that approach, similar to the dreamy summer wedding at Cielo Farms I photographed in Malibu. The light, the setting, and the people did most of the work, and I stayed close enough to catch it.
If you’re planning a wedding and want photographs that feel like the real day rather than a polished version of it, you can also see the intimate rose garden wedding I photographed, which was featured on Green Wedding Shoes. Have a look at my wedding photography services or get in touch and let’s talk about what you have in mind.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes River Bottoms Ranch a great wedding venue?
River Bottoms Ranch sits in a Utah mountain valley about twenty minutes from Park City. It has a white gambrel barn that catches natural light beautifully, open green fields, horses, and a clear mountain backdrop. The combination of all those things makes it one of the most naturally photogenic venues in the region.
How can I incorporate vintage elegance into my wedding design?
Start with the stationery. A custom invitation suite with floral details and a wax seal sets the tone before guests even arrive. From there, look at your flatware, florals, and table linens. Loose, garden-style flowers read far more romantic than tight, structured arrangements. Keep the bridal look classic and the makeup soft, and the whole feel follows naturally.
Why choose Lisa Leanne Photography for wedding photography?
I photograph high-end weddings across California and Utah, working almost entirely in natural light. My goal is always the same: images that feel honest, that you’ll still love in fifteen years, and that actually look like the two of you. I direct minimally and stay observant. That’s where the real photographs come from.
