I am so excited to share with you our first ever Pretty Project Workshop (featured on Green Wedding Shoes)! The Pretty Project – Modern Tea Party workshop & styled shoot at the beautiful Retreat Malibu, was a collaboration of JLN Studios (Jenny, Lisa & Nicole) that stemmed from last years, Boho Love Story shoot at Triunfo Creek Vineyards. We had so much fun during that shoot we couldn’t wait to do it all again, this time offering a creative workshop experience.
The Pretty Project Workshop was a one-day hands on workshop geared towards educating those in the wedding niche. Our classes included Styling & Design with Forrest & J, Photography with Wisteria Photography, and Floral Design with The Bloemist. The Hatch Cafe provided breakfast and lunch for everyone, and various sponsors donated their products for our attendee swag bags.
Jenny Leu designed our tea-party tablescape, escort display, and photo backdrop areas. She sourced the perfect floral modern tabletop elements from Anthropologie & added some additional vintage details from My Lovely Events. Her vision for the escort display table was truly unique and beautiful. She built our photo backdrop herself, which Nicole later adorned with florals, then used for a potion of our styled shoot, while also serving as a fun photo op for our attendees! The “Wild & Free” neon detail from Neon Dive Bar gave the backdrop a fun an unexpected pop. She also dressed our models from head to toe. Our bride looked stunning in a golden starry gown from Watters, and our Groom rocked his suit with GWS floral tie & pocket square details from Neck & Tie Company.
We wanted to go big on the florals, again! This time around, Nicole focused on cutting edge floral trends, focusing on depth and interest across her designs. She amazed us with the various beautiful arrangements she created for our Escort Display table, which later served as the floral workshop station for our attendees to select florals to create their own arrangements. She added pressed ferns and florals to our tabletop, along with a gorgeous centerpiece and chair details. The bouquet and floral hair comb embraced the cosmos to tie into the stunning Orion gown from Watters. Her climbing palm installment for our floral backdrop was a fun and wild touch!
Christy at Lazy Creative Designs blew everyone away with all the stunning details she brought to the table. Her Neon invitation suite design was so fun, and her hand-painted menus & place cards for our tabletop stole our creative hearts! She lettered the pots on our escort display, and created custom singe for multiple areas including a special sign for each workshop class. Our “the Love of Sugar” cutout in the airstream area was lettered by Christy, and created by Creative Amme.
All of our vendors were super hands on, which was simply incredible. Golden Arrow Events designed & staged the entire Airstream area, and created the jaw-dropping balloon installations there and in the Greenhouse. Sugar Crush Sweets & Elise cakes worked together to provide the stunning array of sweets. Kelly Balch with Kelly Balch Video captured the behind the scenes details and events of the entire day.
When our workshop came to an end, we all celebrated with a farewell toast in our airstream lounge area. Shortly after our toast, I swept our Bride & Groom models into the Malibu hills to capture some secret sunset shots to conclude the day. It was truly an amazing experience for all of us to work alongside such talented fellow creatives, and we can’t wait to do it again this Fall!
