I am thrilled to share the breathtaking moments from our second Pretty Project Workshop, aptly themed “Pretty in Pink,” held at the stunning Malibou Lake Lodge. This inspiring day was featured on Green Wedding Shoes and truly felt like a dream come true! At Lisa Leanne Photography, we are always eager to push the boundaries of traditional wedding photography and styling. With this project, our goal was to create something that resonates not only with the modern bride but also with the fashion-forward icon who loves to take bold risks.

A Dreamy Pink Celebration at Malibou Lake Lodge

Nicole from The Bloemist Floral Design set the tone early on by declaring, “I’m feeling bubble gum pink, you guys!” And from that moment, we were all in. Every detail throughout the venue was dripping in pink, from soft blush tones to vibrant fuchsias. The Malibou Lake Lodge provided the perfect natural backdrop, its rustic charm blending beautifully with our bold and whimsical color palette.

Last year, our workshop welcomed 25 attendees who engaged in three in-depth sessions covering essential industry skills. This year, we evolved the format to invite photographers to immerse themselves in capturing the styled shoot’s behind-the-scenes magic. Attendees honed their craft by practicing flat lays, motion shots, and learning the intricate art of organizing and executing a styled shoot. The resulting images and experiences made #makeitpretty19 our most exciting and enriching event yet.

Collaborating with Incredible Vendors for a Stunning Styled Shoot

Our workshop was a collaborative masterpiece thanks to the talented vendors who brought their unique flair to the Pretty in Pink theme:

• Onyx and Redwood Events, based in Santa Barbara, elevated our design with edgy, sophisticated styling touches that added depth and texture to the overall look.
• Lovli, a mother-daughter duo from Southern Alberta, Canada, handpainted over 400 feet of custom fabric that was draped across the ballroom ceiling, creating a dreamy Madonna-meets-Prince atmosphere with floating baby’s breath. This fabric also adorned the dessert backdrop, tablescape, sweetheart bar, and even the iconic boat scene.
• Midnight Confetti and Forrest and J collaborated on innovative mirrored details and incorporated embossed suede into the tablescapes, lending a luxurious touch to the setting.
• Party Pleasers provided the stylish lounge area, perfect for relaxing in all the pink goodness.
• The custom dessert backdrop, crafted by Forrest and J and installed with help from Love This Way LA, showcased delectable sweets from Sugar Crush Sweets along with a stunning floating tiered cake that delighted every guest’s eye.
• We reimagined the sweetheart table with a chic bar setup by Forrest and J, encouraging mingling and celebration all night long.
• Galia Lahav lent their exquisite couture gowns from the latest collection, including a standout embellished ready-to-wear floral piece for the final look that perfectly complemented the theme.
• The Typsy Gypsy Wandering Bar, decked out by Nicole and The Bloemist, offered a whimsical pink bar experience that was an instant favorite.
• Our grand finale featured a pink rowboat nestled beside the lake, giving the illusion of it floating on a pink cloud. This ambitious shot required five helpers to tow the boat, myself perched on a stylist’s shoulders to capture the perfect angle, and two men to lift it over a private gate. Anything for the perfect shot!
